Karen brings over 30 years of experience in sports and performance massage therapy, with a unique background spanning both human and equine athletes.
Her career includes working with elite-level sport, supporting New Zealand’s first World Championship Gold Medal in endurance riding in 1998, as well as involvement at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 alongside New Zealand’s sole representative dressage rider. These experiences have shaped her deep understanding of performance preparation, recovery, and the demands placed on high-level athletes.
Alongside her sports massage career, Karen has worked in a variety of professional environments including Air New Zealand, while continuing to manage and compete in equestrian sport at a high level with her family. This combination of clinical, sporting, and real-world experience gives her a unique and practical understanding of movement, recovery, and performance needs.
Karen works across all three Physio Mechanics clinics and also provides massage support within our corporate and workplace wellbeing services, delivering high-quality care in both clinical and onsite environments.
Her approach is grounded, intuitive, and highly experienced, with a strong focus on helping clients recover, perform, and feel their best.

Sophie is a highly experienced massage therapist with a strong focus on supporting recovery, reducing pain, and improving movement and overall physical wellbeing. She has developed a strong reputation for delivering effective, hands-on treatment that supports both injury recovery and ongoing musculoskeletal care, with many long-term clients returning for her consistent and results-driven approach.
Her professional training includes a Certificate in Relaxation Massage and a Diploma in Therapeutic and Sports Massage, which she combines with a strong understanding of movement and body mechanics. Sophie has a particular interest in the benefits of regular massage for both recovery and performance, and brings this understanding into her treatment approach to help clients move better and feel better.
Outside of work, she leads an active lifestyle and enjoys running, paddle boarding, and spending time with her family and two children.
