Shylvia is a Senior Physiotherapist with a strong interest in clinical Pilates, musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation, delivering hands-on treatment combined with structured exercise-based recovery to help patients return to full function and activity.
Her passion for physiotherapy was first sparked through early experience working alongside a rugby team, where she saw firsthand the impact rehabilitation can have on recovery and performance. Since then, she has developed into an experienced clinician with a strong focus on injury management, rehabilitation, and long-term movement health within the South Auckland community she proudly calls home.
Alongside her clinical work, Shylvia leads our Springboard Pilates classes at the Takanini clinic, using movement-based rehabilitation to support strength, stability, and confidence in recovery. She also plays an important role in clinical supervision of physiotherapy students, helping mentor and develop the next generation of clinicians within Physio Mechanics.
Her approach combines practical treatment, exercise prescription, and patient education to achieve meaningful, long-term outcomes. She is also trained in dry needling, which she incorporates where appropriate as part of her treatment approach.
Outside of work, Shylvia enjoys staying active at the gym, as well as reading, baking, music, painting, and spending time with her young daughter.
